The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has announced an emergency load management across parts of its network following a fault on the Mando–Shiroro transmission line.

In a public notice issued on February 12, 2026, the company said the development has significantly reduced the power allocation available to its coverage areas, affecting customers in Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi States.

According to the statement signed by the Group Head, Corporate Communications, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, the National Control Centre (NCC) in Oshogbo has directed a temporary reduction in supply.

“The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform its customers of emergency load management in parts of its network due to a fault on the Mando-Shiroro Transmission line,” Ezeh stated.

He explained that the NCC has advised the company to operate with limited megawatt allocations across key transmission stations.

“As a result of this, the National Control Centre (NCC), Oshogbo, has advised that we maintain only 44MW on the Onitsha/New Haven 330kV (affecting Awada, Agu-Awka, Nibo, New Haven, Nkalagu and Abakaliki Transmission Stations), and 10MW and 11MW on the Ugwuaji and Apir Transmission Stations respectively,” he said.

Ezeh noted that customers served by EEDC’s subsidiary companies — MainPower, FirstPower and EastLand — in the affected states would experience supply disruptions as a result of the reduced allocation.

“Consequently, customers served by the subsidiary companies of EEDC (MainPower, FirstPower and EastLand) in Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi States respectively are affected by this development,” he added.

The company apologised to customers for the inconvenience and assured them that efforts are underway to restore normal supply.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may cause our customers and appeal for their understanding as efforts are being made by the relevant stakeholders to clear the fault and restore normal supply,” Ezeh said.

EEDC did not indicate how long the load management would last but assured customers that further updates would be provided as the situation improves.
