Less than 72 hours to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections, the Bwari chairmanship race took a dramatic turn as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Julius Adamu, announced his withdrawal from the contest in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer, Joshua Ishaku Musa.

Adamu made the declaration on Thursday, attributing his decision to consultations with the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.

“I am standing here before you this afternoon to tell you that I have been in deep consultation with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. And I have come to conclusion that I and Joshua, we are brothers,” Adamu said.

“It will not be nice for two brothers to kill themselves over one office. Therefore, I have relinquished my support to Hon Joshua.

“I want to urge all my supporters to support Joshua to win this election,” he added.

Wike, who also addressed supporters at the event, openly canvassed votes for the APC candidate, promising infrastructure development if he emerges victorious.

“The people of Bwari, let me tell you why you should support Joshua. If you vote for Joshua, I will do more roads in Bwari,” the minister said.

“Let nobody make any mistake, on Saturday, come out and make sure that Joshua wins the election.”

The unexpected endorsement has reshaped the political landscape in Bwari Area Council, setting the stage for a closely watched contest in Saturday’s polls.
