PDP for APC
The political equation in Gombe State shifted markedly on Thursday as Hon. Inuwa Garba, the member representing Yamaltu-Deba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Garba announced his defection during a courtesy visit to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, where he presented his APC membership card obtained from his ward in Lubo, Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area — symbolising what he described as his full return to the ruling party.

Explaining the rationale behind his move, the federal lawmaker cited what he called the visionary leadership and developmental strides of Governor Yahaya, as well as confidence in the reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He said the APC offers a stronger and more dependable platform for sustainable growth and effective representation.

“The APC remains the beacon of progressive governance in Nigeria. With the leadership of Governor Inuwa Yahaya in Gombe and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the national level, I am confident that our people will continue to witness tangible development and inclusive policies,” he said.

Garba pledged loyalty to the APC and assured the governor of his commitment to strengthening party unity and advancing its fortunes in Yamaltu-Deba Federal Constituency and beyond.

Responding, Governor Yahaya warmly received the lawmaker, describing his defection as courageous and reflective of a deep commitment to the welfare of his constituents.

According to the governor, the move underscores growing public confidence in the APC’s governance model in Gombe State.

He reaffirmed that his administration remains focused on people-centred development, including infrastructure expansion, improved access to education and healthcare, and economic diversification aimed at securing long-term prosperity.

Governor Yahaya, recently appointed by President Tinubu as Renewed Hope Ambassador and Secretary for Party Outreach, Engagement and Mobilisation, said Garba’s entry further consolidates the APC’s structure in the state and strengthens its strategic positioning ahead of future elections.

Political observers view the development as a significant boost for the APC in Yamaltu-Deba Federal Constituency and a clear indicator of shifting alliances as the next electoral cycle approaches.
