Former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, on Friday visited the iconic Dangote Refinery in Lagos, where he held high-level discussions aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s renewable energy drive.
Kalu was accompanied by Chinese billionaire, Mr Zhu Gongshan, Chairman of GCL Group, during the strategic meeting with Africa’s foremost industrialist, Aliko Dangote.
Speaking after the visit, Kalu described the engagement as productive and forward-looking.
“Chinese billionaire, Mr Zhu Gongshan, Chairman of GCL Group, and I visited the iconic Dangote Refinery in Lagos today, where we held fruitful discussions on advancing our renewable energy ambitions alongside Alhaji Aliko Dangote,” he said.
He explained that the talks built on an earlier framework agreement signed this year between Swiber Africa and GCL, focusing on accelerating clean energy investments in Nigeria.
“Building on the framework agreement signed earlier this year between Swiber Africa and GCL, we explored ways to fast-track solar and wind projects, develop lithium resources strategically, create jobs locally, and bring vital technology transfers to strengthen Nigeria’s energy independence,” Kalu stated.
The senator emphasised the importance of international collaboration in driving sustainable development and boosting Nigeria’s energy security.

“True progress comes from strong, win-win partnerships by harnessing global expertise alongside our rich resources for sustainable growth,” he added.
