Women groups across Enugu State over the weekend, declared their support for the re-election of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah in 2027, citing what they described as transformative achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare and economic development.

The endorsement came at a gathering themed “Women Gather for Our Governor 2027,” sponsored by Princess Dr. Edith Ngozi Ugwuanyi; a strong admirer and supporter of the governor, and co-convened by Ambassador Onyi Joy Mamah, popularly known as “The Voice.”

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Mamah said the platform, Women Gather, was formed to consolidate women’s support for the governor’s second term.

Amb. Mamah commended the governor’s record in office, highlighting infrastructure renewal and social investments.

“Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is a leader who has taken infrastructure development to another level. His sense of artistry and aesthetics in transforming the environment and the city is remarkable. He has delivered state-of-the-art improvements in school structures, hospitals, and other public facilities.

“Recently, he approved ₦32 billion for the payment of pensions and gratuities in Enugu State. His achievements are numerous and impactful,” Mamah stated.

She added that women across the state were determined to ensure continuity of what she described as purposeful leadership.

“As mothers, what we are saying today is simple: Your Excellency, you have done more than fifty percent—complete it to one hundred percent. That is why his re-election is sacrosanct,” she said.

According to her, seven women’s groups are currently represented in the gathering, including WoSuWo Women, Loudest Voices for Peter Mbah, NCWS and Umuada Peter Mbah, among others.

“Our goal is to carry out high-level sensitisation at the local and ward levels to ensure that every woman obtains her voter’s card and turns out to vote for His Excellency in 2027,” she added.

‘He Is The Rock’ — Princess Ugwuanyi

In her welcome address, Princess Dr. Edith Ngozi Ugwuanyi described the gathering as historic and purpose-driven.

“Today is not merely a meeting—it is a convergence of vision, unity, and purpose. It is a gathering of women who recognize excellence in leadership, who appreciate tangible progress, and who are committed to sustaining the transformation of our dear Enugu State,” she said.

Reflecting on the governor’s leadership style, she likened him to “The Rock.”

“It is with great pride and profound gratitude that I stand before you to reflect on the exceptional leadership of our amiable, visionary, and result-oriented Governor, His Excellency, Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, ‘THE ROCK.’ I call him ‘THE ROCK’ as Jesus referenced Peter the apostle in Matthew 16:18… because, barely two years in office, his administration has delivered remarkable achievements that have repositioned Enugu State as a beacon of progress, innovation, and hope,” she said.

Princess Ugwuanyi described the governor as embodying both visionary and servant leadership.

“As a servant leader, he has placed the needs of the people first. His policies reflect genuine care for the welfare, dignity, and advancement of every Enugu citizen,” she said.

“As a visionary leader, he has demonstrated uncommon foresight and courage in laying the foundation for a modern, prosperous, and globally competitive Enugu State.”

She listed key initiatives of the administration, including the construction of Smart Green Schools across the state’s 260 wards.

“These schools are not just buildings; they are centers of excellence equipped with modern technology, designed to provide our children with world-class education regardless of their background,” she said.

On healthcare, she noted the establishment of Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres across the 260 wards.

“This bold step reflects his deep commitment to preserving life and promoting the wellbeing of every citizen. Indeed, as we often say, health is wealth,” she stated.

Princess Ugwuanyi also highlighted investments in technology, manufacturing, agriculture, tourism and transport, including the introduction of Enugu Air, as well as the deployment of advanced technology-driven security systems, including AI-enabled drones.

She commended the governor’s inclusive approach to governance, particularly the appointment of women into key leadership positions.

“The appointment of women into key leadership positions reflects his recognition of the vital role women play in governance and societal development. This is a testament to his belief in equity, competence, and inclusiveness,” she said.

Declaring support for the governor’s second term, she urged women to mobilise across communities.

“Having carefully considered the remarkable achievements and visionary leadership we have witnessed, I stand here today to call on all women across our communities to unite in support of His Excellency, Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for 2027 as we say ‘NO VACANCY.’ Let us organize, mobilize, and engage actively at the grassroots level,” she declared.

“Together, with unity, commitment, and purpose, we will continue to be partners in progress and champions of development.”

The event ended with prayers for the governor, Enugu State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as organisers reiterated their commitment to grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
