The Chairman of the Igbo Traditional Rulers Council for the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory, Uche Egenti, has extended warm felicitations to Ngozi Olejeme ahead of her conferment with the prestigious “Ugo Nwanyi” title.
The honour is scheduled to be bestowed by the Women Wing of the Asaba Development Union during the 2026 celebration of International Women’s Day at the Mariam Babangida International Centre on Saturday, 7th March 2026.
In a goodwill message, Egenti congratulated Olejeme on behalf of himself, his family, and “the good-willed Ndi Ndu Ndigbo resident across the nineteen Northern States of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory.”
He described the upcoming honour as a fitting recognition of a woman whose life exemplifies leadership, philanthropy, and service to society.
“The conferment of the distinguished title ‘Ugo Nwanyi’ by the Women Wing of the Asaba Development Union is a fitting recognition of a woman whose life has consistently reflected exceptional leadership, unwavering commitment to service, remarkable philanthropy, and a deeply celebrated dedication to the empowerment and advancement of women in our society,” Egenti said.
Egenti highlighted Olejeme’s role as a trailblazer within the Igbo nation and beyond.
“Dr. Olejeme has continued to distinguish herself as a worthy daughter of Ndigbo and a proud ambassador of the South-South region. As the National Vice President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, and notably the first female from the South-South geopolitical zone to occupy this esteemed office, she has demonstrated courage, vision, and an uncommon passion for unity, development, and inclusive leadership within the Igbo nation and beyond,” he stated.
He further praised her advocacy for women, youth development, and humanitarian service.
“Her tireless advocacy for women’s empowerment, youth development, and humanitarian service has positively impacted countless lives and continues to inspire hope, progress, and greater participation of women in leadership and nation-building,” Egenti added.
Egenti said the honour represents not only recognition of Olejeme’s achievements but also the enduring legacy of service, compassion, and excellence she continues to build.
“May the Almighty God continue to grant her good health, wisdom, and greater opportunities to serve humanity and uplift our people as she receives this honour,” he said, adding, “Congratulations once again, Ugo Nwanyi.”
