Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who represents Abia North Senatorial District, has paid a courtesy visit to elder statesman and former governor of old Anambra State, Jim Nwobodo, in Enugu, where both leaders discussed national issues and the future direction of Nigeria.
Kalu described the visit as an opportunity to reconnect with a respected mentor while exchanging views on the country’s political and economic trajectory.
“Today, I had the privilege of visiting my dear friend and mentor, former governor of Anambra State Senator Jim Nwobodo, in Enugu. Our discussions focused on his welfare, the state of our nation, and the path forward for Nigeria,” Kalu said.
The former governor of Abia State explained that their conversation extended beyond personal welfare to broader national concerns and the collective responsibility of leaders in shaping Nigeria’s future.
Kalu also used the opportunity to call for sustained support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the government’s agenda is aimed at strengthening national unity, driving economic growth, and ensuring long-term stability.
According to him, Nigeria’s challenges require stronger collaboration among political leaders, elder statesmen, and stakeholders across regions to unlock the country’s development potential.
He stressed that the experience and counsel of veteran leaders like Nwobodo remain invaluable in guiding national discourse and promoting political stability.
Nwobodo, a former governor of old Anambra State and a prominent figure in Nigeria’s political history, has long played a mentoring role to many political leaders across the country.
Kalu’s visit reflects ongoing consultations among senior political actors as discussions about governance, national unity, and economic progress continue across Nigeria, particularly ahead of evolving political alignments in the country.
