The Enugu SME & Startup Agency, also known as the Enugu SME Center, has announced the opening of applications for the 4th edition of its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme, aimed at equipping young people in the state with practical construction skills.
In the announcement issued on March 14, 2026, the agency disclosed that the four-month training programme will be implemented through COPEN Academy, a subsidiary of the COPEN Group.
According to the agency, the hands-on programme will train participants in plumbing and painting, providing practical, industry-focused knowledge designed to prepare young people for employment, apprenticeships and entrepreneurship within the construction sector.
Speaking on the initiative, the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, said the programme aligns with the state government’s vision of building a skilled workforce capable of driving economic growth.
“Our goal is to build a generation of skilled young people who can compete anywhere in the world and drive the economic transformation of Enugu State,” the governor said.
The agency stated that applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old, reside in Enugu State, possess valid identification and demonstrate interest and commitment to acquiring vocational skills.
It added that the initiative forms part of the state government’s broader strategy to empower Ndi Enugu youths with practical, employable skills that can create sustainable economic opportunities.

The agency noted that spaces for the training programme are limited, urging eligible youths to apply early.
