An Enugu-based architect and Managing Director of Powell Homes and Shelters Ltd, Chibuikem Onyekachi Emmanuel, has described Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah as a transformative leader comparable to Singapore’s founding father, Lee Kuan Yew.
Speaking with journalists in Enugu on Tuesday during a birthday celebration held in honour of the governor’s 54th anniversary, Onyekachi said Mbah’s performance in office has already positioned the state for global recognition through industrialisation, infrastructure, and economic growth.
“At 54 years of age and almost three years in office, Governor Mbah has achieved a level in leadership that has made Enugu the best destination for investment,” he said.
He noted that the administration has created a more enabling environment for businesses, particularly in the real estate sector, citing reforms such as the Enugu Geographic Information System (ENGIS), restructuring of the Ministry of Lands, and improvements in the Surveyor-General’s office.
According to him, these initiatives have significantly enhanced land administration and boosted investor confidence in the state.
Onyekachi further credited the governor with fostering political stability, describing his leadership style as inclusive and open to criticism.
“He is not just a replica of Lee Kuan Yew but also a combination of Charlemagne, Deng Xiaoping, and Mahatma Gandhi,” he said.
He also offered prayers for the governor as he begins his re-election campaign, expressing optimism about the administration’s direction.
The architect added that Mbah’s economic vision, particularly in job creation and expansion across key sectors, is already yielding visible results, with investors increasingly viewing Enugu as a reliable business hub.
“With sustained efforts, the state will witness even greater transformation in the coming years,” he added.
