The Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State, Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze, has called on Muslim faithful to embrace the spirit of unity, peace, and spiritual renewal as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Fitr.

In a Salah message issued on Thursday to mark the end of Ramadan, Ukwueze urged Muslims in the council area, across Nigeria, and around the world to reflect on the values of faith, sacrifice, and compassion.

“This sacred celebration… is a testament to the enduring values of faith, sacrifice, and compassion. It offers a profound opportunity for spiritual renewal and a recommitment to the ideals of peace, charity, and communal harmony that bind us together as one people,” he said.

The council chairman emphasised that the completion of Ramadan symbolises discipline and devotion, urging adherents to sustain those virtues beyond the fasting period.

He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths, aligning with the vision of Enugu State Governor, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

“In line with the governance philosophy of His Excellency… our administration remains firmly committed to sustaining an environment where people of all faiths can live together in harmony, mutual respect, and shared purpose,” Ukwueze stated.

“We recognise that the strength of our society lies in its diversity, and we shall continue to promote policies and initiatives that ensure inclusion and tolerance for all,” he added.

The chairman further encouraged Muslims to translate the lessons of Ramadan into actions that promote development and unity within their communities.

“As we celebrate this auspicious festival, I encourage us all to uphold the noble virtues exemplified during Ramadan and to channel them towards the collective advancement of our communities and the state at large,” he said.

He concluded by wishing Muslim faithful a peaceful and fulfilling celebration.

“May this Eid al-Fitr bring peace and abundant blessings to every home. Eid Mubarak!” he said.
