The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Enugu State Council, has felicitated former Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, on his 62nd birthday, praising his inclusive leadership style and strong relationship with the media.

In a statement issued on Friday and signed by the State Chairman, Obinna Ogbuka, the union described Ugwuanyi as a people-oriented leader whose administration fostered unity, peace, and grassroots development across the state.

“His tenure was marked by inclusiveness, transparency, and respect for the role of the media in a democratic society,” the statement read.

The NUJ noted that the former governor’s humility and accessibility endeared him to journalists and the wider public, adding that he maintained a cordial working relationship with media practitioners throughout his time in office.

The union further commended Ugwuanyi for creating “an enabling environment for journalists to operate freely without intimidation,” stressing that such support enhanced professionalism and ethical journalism in Enugu State.

It also highlighted his contributions to infrastructure and human capital development, describing his legacy as one that continues to inspire.

The NUJ recalled that Ugwuanyi was inducted into its “Hall of Fame” during the 2025 Press Week in recognition of his support for the media and good governance.

The union also congratulated him on his recent appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Greece, describing it as “an honour well deserved.”

While wishing him good health, the NUJ prayed for “many more years of impactful service” and greater accomplishments in his future endeavours.
