The Enugu State Government has announced plans to unveil a new phase of community development initiatives under the NG-CARES programme, with a high-level statewide stakeholders’ sensitisation scheduled for April 10, 2026.

The event, organised through the Community and Social Development Agency, will hold at the International Conference Centre in Enugu and is expected to draw top government officials, development partners, traditional rulers, youth leaders, civil society groups, and community stakeholders.

Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, who will serve as Chief Host, is expected to use the platform to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to grassroots development, economic recovery, and improved livelihoods for vulnerable populations across the state.

The programme, tagged “Operation 2.0,” is part of the Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus initiative—a flagship intervention backed by the Federal Government and the World Bank to strengthen community resilience and drive economic growth.

National and international partners, including the NG-CARES Federal Coordinating Unit and representatives of the World Bank, are also expected to attend the event.

Speaking ahead of the unveiling, the General Manager of CSDA, Monday Diamond Ani, said the sensitisation would provide stakeholders with detailed insights into the new phase of the programme.

“The Statewide Stakeholders Sensitization, tagged Operation 2.0, will serve as an avenue to unveil all programmes under NG-CARES 2.0 and enlighten stakeholders and community leaders on how to access development projects,” he said.

Ani highlighted the achievements recorded under the first phase of the programme, noting that the state government had delivered potable water to over 140 communities and constructed modern sanitation facilities aimed at ending open defecation.

He added that the next phase would significantly expand on these gains.

“The Governor is keen on doubling the projects in the 2.0 programme,” he stated.

Under the NG-CARES framework, CSDA serves as the delivery platform for interventions in basic services, including water supply, sanitation, renewable energy, livelihood support, and other critical community infrastructure.

The agency urged all invited stakeholders to attend the sensitisation, stressing that key processes for accessing community-based projects would be fully unveiled during the session, which is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
