Fresh political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections may be underway as Bala Mohammed and Seyi Makinde held a closed-door meeting with Seriake Dickson in Bauchi.
A video of the high-level meeting, which surfaced online, has intensified speculation about emerging alliances within Nigeria’s opposition bloc.
Although details of the discussions were not officially disclosed, sources suggest the meeting may be linked to strategic consultations ahead of the 2027 elections.
Both governors are among key figures in the Peoples Democratic Party, which has been grappling with a prolonged leadership crisis that has unsettled its internal structure.
Reports indicate that Mohammed and Makinde are weighing their political options amid the uncertainty, with talks of a possible exit from the party gaining traction.
Dickson, who represents Bayelsa West, recently unveiled a new political platform, the Nigeria Democratic Congress, further fueling speculation that the meeting could be part of broader efforts to reshape opposition politics ahead of 2027.
While none of the principals has publicly confirmed the agenda, the convergence of the three political heavyweights is being closely watched as a potential signal of shifting alliances in Nigeria’s political landscape.
