The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered a sweeping redeployment of senior officers across the Nigeria Police Force as part of efforts to strengthen operations, enhance leadership capacity, and improve service delivery nationwide.
The directive, announced on March 24, 2026, was conveyed in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, who said the postings align with the Force’s commitment to an effective command structure and strategic personnel deployment.
“The postings are in line with the Force’s commitment to an effective command structure and the strategic deployment of personnel across Commands, Formations, and Departments,” Placid stated.
According to the statement, several Assistant Inspectors-General of Police were reassigned to key departments and zonal commands. Among them are AIG Ado Emmanuel to Research and Planning, AIG Joseph Eribo to Armament, AIG Miller Dantawaye to Operations, and AIG Henry Uche to Training and Development, all at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. Others include AIG Dahiru Mohammed to Zone 15, Maiduguri; AIG Dankombo Morris to Zone 4, Makurdi; and AIG Olohundare Jimoh to Zone 2, Lagos, among several strategic deployments.
The reshuffle also affected Commissioners of Police, with new postings to state commands and critical units. CP Haruna Yahaya was deployed to Jigawa, CP Olugbenga Abimbola to Oyo, CP Yemi Oyeniyi to Delta, CP Olubode Ojajuni to Ogun, CP Michael Falade to Ekiti, and CP Muhammed Ahmed to the Federal Capital Territory. CP Olatunji Fatai was posted to Lagos, while others were assigned to specialised formations including INTERPOL, SWAT, FCID, and the Special Protection Unit.
The police chief urged the affected officers to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating professionalism and discipline. “Officers are expected to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their respective assignments and uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and service,” Placid quoted the IGP as saying.
