Supporters of Peter Obi under the banner of the Village Boys Movement (VBM) have intensified calls on the African Democratic Congress to grant its 2027 presidential ticket to the former Anambra State governor, staging a coordinated nationwide march on Saturday.

The demonstration, tagged the “2 Million Man March and ADC Registration Drive,” was held simultaneously across multiple states, including Abia, Adamawa, Anambra, Ebonyi, Plateau, Jigawa, Kaduna, Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Kogi, and Edo.

Organisers described the mobilisation as a direct and unequivocal message to the ADC leadership to concede its presidential ticket to Obi, which they said reflects the “clear will of the people.”

Speaking on the development, the Village Headmaster of the movement, Tochukwu Ezeoke, said the protest was strategically designed to compel the party to act decisively on Obi’s candidacy.

He explained that the scale of participation across the country signals a growing national consensus around Obi’s leadership.

According to him, the exercise went beyond a show of support, serving also as a vehicle for mass political mobilisation.

The march, he noted, doubled as a registration drive aimed at increasing membership of the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections while strengthening the case for Obi’s emergence as the party’s flag bearer.

VBM said the phased rollout of its activities is intended to sustain pressure on the ADC, maintain nationwide momentum, and keep the demand for Obi’s candidacy at the forefront of political discourse.

The group described the initiative as a deliberate effort to convert widespread public support into an organised political force capable of influencing internal party decisions, particularly the allocation of the presidential ticket.

Highlighting the country’s current political and economic challenges, the movement insisted that the situation demands credible leadership, arguing that handing Obi the ADC ticket would align with the aspirations of Nigerians.

VBM also pointed to evolving positions among key political actors, including the Peoples Democratic Party, All Progressives Congress, Labour Party, and the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum, noting that agitation for a Southern presidency continues to gain traction nationwide.

Reiterating its stance, the group maintained that the ADC must align with the prevailing momentum by granting its presidential ticket to Obi without delay, warning that any contrary move would run against the current democratic sentiment.

The movement affirmed its resolve to sustain nationwide mobilisation across communities, with the aim of securing Obi’s candidacy and driving what it described as a decisive political shift ahead of the 2027 elections.
