President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a fresh round of key appointments, naming a new Chairman for the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), nominating seven federal commissioners for the National Population Commission (NPC), and confirming a Special Adviser on Political Economy.

This was disclosed in a State House press statement issued on March 30, 2026, by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, the President appointed Ibrahim Ida as Chairman of the CAC. Ida, a former senator who represented Katsina Central, holds an MSc in Banking and Finance from the University of Ibadan and an LLB from the University of Abuja. He previously served as Commissioner of Finance in Katsina State and as a Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.

In the same development, President Tinubu nominated seven individuals as Federal Commissioners of the NPC, subject to confirmation by the National Assembly. The nominees are:

  • Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi (Ekiti State)
  • Nasiru Mu’azu (Zamfara State)
  • Usman Abubakar Tuggar (Bauchi State)
  • Dr. Isaka Alada Yahaya (Kwara State)
  • Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda (Katsina State)
  • Suleiman Umar (Jigawa State)
  • Hon. Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo (Sokoto State)

The appointments are expected to fill existing vacancies and strengthen the commission’s operations.

The President also approved the appointment of Yusuf Mohammed as Chairman of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo.

Additionally, Bala Mohammed Bello has been confirmed as Special Adviser to the President on Political Economy. Bello, an indigene of Taraba State, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and an MBA from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He previously served as Deputy Governor at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and as Executive Director (Corporate Services) at the Nigerian Export-Import Bank.

President Tinubu expressed confidence in the capacity of the appointees to deliver on the administration’s objectives.

“President Tinubu strongly believes in the capacities of the appointees to put in their best to further the administration’s commitment to a better lease of life for Nigerians,” Bayo Onanuga stated.
