Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council, effectively relieving all commissioners of their duties.

The decision was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani, who said the move is aimed at creating room for political participation ahead of the next general elections.

According to the statement, the dissolution is intended “to provide an enabling environment for any member of the council who may wish to contest elective positions in the forthcoming general elections.”

Governor Zulum also directed all affected commissioners to formally hand over the affairs of their respective ministries to Permanent Secretaries on or before April 3, 2026.

Despite the sweeping action, the governor commended the outgoing officials for their service to the state.

He expressed “profound appreciation to the outgoing commissioners for their dedication, commitment, and invaluable contributions to the development and service of the people of Borno State.”
