…Commences Trainers’ Workshop Ahead of April 13 Rollout
The Independent National Electoral Commission has commenced high-level preparations for the nationwide voter revalidation exercise, with a Training-of-Trainers (ToT) workshop held on March 30, 2026, at The Electoral Institute (TEI).
The training is designed to equip selected trainers who will, in turn, conduct cascade training for registration officials ahead of the exercise scheduled to begin on April 13, 2026, across all 774 local government offices, 8,809 registration areas, and 176,846 polling units nationwide.
Chairman of the Board of TEI, Kunle Ajayi, stressed the importance of the exercise, linking it directly to the credibility of future elections.
“A credible election starts with a credible voter register, and it is critical to ensure the integrity of the register ahead of the 2027 General Election,” Ajayi said.
He charged the participants—comprising TEI master trainers and staff of the Voter Registry and ICT departments—to remain focused and committed, noting that the success of the entire process depends on them.
“The success of the entire cascade training program—and by extension, the revalidation exercise itself—rests on your shoulders,” he added.
In his remarks, the Acting Director-General of TEI underscored the central role of proper training in achieving a seamless exercise.
“The success of the revalidation exercise depends largely on your understanding of the procedures and framework of the exercise,” he said while welcoming participants.
During the workshop, trainers were taken through key operational tools and systems to build the technical competence required to train thousands of revalidation officials nationwide.
The exercise forms a critical part of INEC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, aimed at strengthening the integrity and accuracy of Nigeria’s voter register.
