President Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned the recent killings in Plateau and Kaduna states, vowing that perpetrators of the attacks will be tracked down and brought to justice.
In a State House press statement issued on March 31, 2026, and signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the assaults in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, and Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State as “barbaric and cowardly.”
Tinubu said the attacks, including the killing and abduction of wedding guests in Kaduna, represent a grave assault on national values. “Anyone who will sneak under the cover of the night and kill defenceless citizens as done in Jos and Kahir village, is a heartless coward. By attacking soft targets in Jos, their objective is not only to cause harm but also trigger a spiral of reprisal attacks and further bloodletting,” he said.
The President directed security agencies to intensify efforts in pursuing those responsible, as well as individuals spreading misinformation capable of escalating tensions. He also cautioned sections of the media against insinuating religious motives behind the attacks.
Reaffirming the government’s response, Tinubu stressed that security forces are actively addressing the situation and called for public cooperation. He urged communities to adhere to evacuation and relocation advisories where necessary.
“I urge our security agencies to be more proactive in preventing these attacks by acting on early warning intelligence. All the remaining abductees from Kahir village must be rescued immediately,” the President stated.
He commended Caleb Mutfwang for efforts in containing the situation in Plateau, and Uba Sani for supporting rescue operations in Kaduna.
“I assure the people and government of the two states of my support. I commiserate with the families of those killed and pray for the quick recovery of the injured,” he added.
Tinubu further disclosed that the Federal Government is acquiring advanced security equipment to enhance real-time tracking and neutralisation of criminal elements, expressing confidence that those behind the attacks will be decisively dealt with.
