President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his scheduled trip to Iperu, Ogun State, opting instead to travel to Jos, Plateau State, to commiserate with victims of recent deadly attacks, the Presidency has announced.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the President altered his itinerary in response to the tragic killings of innocent citizens in Plateau State.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu today postponed his scheduled trip to Iperu, Ogun State… Instead, he will head to Jos, capital of Plateau State, to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the recent gun attacks, which claimed the lives of innocent citizens,” Onanuga stated.
According to the statement, the President will proceed to Lagos after the Jos visit to observe the Good Friday.
He is, however, expected to resume his Ogun State visit on Saturday, April 4, where he will commission the Gateway International Cargo Airport and inaugurate two commercial aircraft aimed at boosting import and export activities in the state.
During the visit, President Tinubu will also inaugurate the new Federal Operations Unit edifice of the Nigerian Customs Service and its operational vehicles.
The statement further disclosed that the President will return to Lagos to continue the Easter holiday and commission several key infrastructure projects executed by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
These include the Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographic Information System Building, a Multi-Agency Complex named after the President, and a new school complex.
Before returning to Abuja, the President is scheduled to visit Bayelsa State on April 10 to commission projects completed by Governor Duoye Diri.
Onanuga added that the multi-state visit underscores the administration’s continued focus on infrastructure development and national solidarity in times of crisis.
