…Wike Orders Immediate Response

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has confirmed that a windstorm triggered by heavy rainfall damaged parts of the Kugbo Bus Terminal in Nyanya, Abuja, with authorities moving swiftly to secure the area and begin repairs.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, said the storm also caused minor damage to the Nyanya pedestrian bridge and nearby buildings.

According to him, “the windstorm, which occurred during a heavy rainfall a few hours ago, also caused minor damage to the Nyanya pedestrian bridge and some buildings in the area.”

Olayinka noted that preliminary reports indicate that no casualties were recorded and no vehicles were affected by the incident.

“From preliminary reports, no one was injured, and no vehicle was damaged,” he stated.

He further disclosed that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, had ordered the immediate deployment of security personnel to the affected area to maintain order and ensure smooth traffic flow.

“To prevent breakdown of law and order, as well as ensure the free flow of traffic, the FCT Minister has directed that security men be deployed to the scene, while immediate action will be taken towards fixing the damages caused by the windstorm,” Olayinka added.

The FCTA assured residents that necessary steps were being taken to restore the affected infrastructure and maintain safety in the area.
