Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has dissolved the Gombe State Executive Council, directing all commissioners to hand over their duties on or before April 10, 2026.

The decision was announced on Wednesday in Gombe by the Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, following an extraordinary council meeting convened to review the administration’s performance midway into the governor’s second term.

Njodi said the session provided an opportunity for a comprehensive assessment of governance activities over the past two and a half years, noting that the administration recorded significant achievements across key sectors.

“The council undertook a post-mortem of governance activities and concluded that the administration recorded excellent results,” he said.

However, he explained that recent political developments ahead of the 2027 general elections informed the dissolution of the cabinet.

According to him, “the decision will provide a level playing ground for members of the executive council and other political appointees who may wish to pursue elective positions.”

He directed all commissioners to hand over the affairs of their ministries to Permanent Secretaries not later than Friday, April 10, 2026.

The SSG further disclosed that other political office holders and aides intending to contest elections must also resign within the same timeframe.

Njodi conveyed the governor’s appreciation to the outgoing cabinet members for their service and commitment.

“The governor expressed appreciation to the outgoing council members for their dedication, loyalty and contributions to the administration’s development agenda,” he stated, adding that their efforts had driven notable progress across the state.

He also extended the governor’s goodwill to the affected officials, wishing them success in their future pursuits while urging continued public support for government programmes.
