Sir Amobi Celestine Edeani

A prominent stakeholder from Nkanu East, Sir Amobi Celestine Edeani, has called for unity and restraint among political aspirants in the area, urging them to rally behind Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and avoid premature political contests that could weaken the zone’s collective strength.

In a statement issued on April 7, 2026, Edeani described Governor Mbah as “a shining symbol of purposeful leadership and a source of pride to the people of Nkanu East,” noting that his emergence marked a historic milestone for the Nkanu people.

“His emergence as Governor did not only mark a personal achievement but also represented a historic moment for Nkanu people—a moment that must be preserved, protected, and maximized for collective benefit,” he stated.

Edeani praised the governor’s leadership style, highlighting his focus on long-term development and economic transformation.

“Governor Mbah has demonstrated capacity, vision, and an unwavering commitment to transforming Enugu State into a modern, economically viable, and investment-friendly destination,” he said. “These strides… already reflect a leader focused on long-term impact rather than short-term political gains.”

He, however, cautioned that internal political rivalry within Nkanu East could undermine these gains if not properly managed.

“The temptation for multiple aspirants from the same locality to begin early political positioning must be carefully managed. Such actions… risk portraying Nkanu as fragmented and politically uncoordinated,” Edeani warned.

According to him, unity remains the strongest political asset of the Nkanu people.

“When a people appear divided, they weaken their collective bargaining power. Political strength is not only measured by numbers but by cohesion, discipline, and the ability to act with a shared purpose,” he added.

Edeani urged aspiring leaders to exercise patience and align with the broader interest of the region.

“It is therefore both wise and necessary for aspiring leaders from Nkanu East to exercise restraint at this time. Leadership… requires not just ambition but timing, wisdom, and a deep understanding of collective interest,” he said.

He emphasized that supporting the governor through his tenure would ultimately benefit the entire Nkanu bloc.

“Supporting Governor Mbah to complete his tenure without internal distractions is a strategic decision that will ultimately benefit the entire Nkanu nation,” he noted.

The community leader further stressed that protecting the current political position of Nkanu goes beyond sentiment and requires deliberate unity.

“To undermine that success through premature political rivalry is to weaken our own foundation,” he cautioned.

Calling for consolidation rather than competition, Edeani concluded with a strong appeal to stakeholders.

“In conclusion, I call on all Nkanu aspirants to hold on, remain patient, and rally behind His Excellency, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. Let us protect our collective mandate, preserve our unity, and ensure that the gains of today translate into greater opportunities for tomorrow.

“A united Nkanu is a stronger Nkanu—and together, we will continue to move forward.”
