As political activities intensify ahead of the forthcoming primaries, the Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Youth Movement has thrown its weight behind Chris Ugwu, describing him as a symbol of hope and credible leadership for the constituency.

In a statement issued on April 8, 2026, the group said the moment presents a defining opportunity for stakeholders to make choices that will shape the future of the constituency and its youths.

“This is more than politics — it is about the future of our constituency, the future of our youths, and the strength of our party,” the statement read.

The youth body described Ugwu, popularly known as “Don Chris,” as a candidate whose track record of loyalty and grassroots engagement distinguishes him from other contenders.

“In this defining moment, one name stands tall — Engr. Chris Ugwu (Don Chris). He represents more than ambition; he represents sacrifice. He represents more than promises; he represents proven commitment,” the group stated.

According to the movement, Ugwu’s longstanding dedication to the growth of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and his involvement at both grassroots and party levels have positioned him as a trusted figure within the political structure.

“From the grassroots to the party structure, his loyalty to the African Democratic Congress and dedication to its growth have been unparalleled. Don Chris is not contesting for power — he is stepping forward for service,” the statement added.

Calling on party members and stakeholders to unite behind the aspirant, the group urged a shift towards competence-driven leadership.

“To every card-carrying member, to every youth who dreams of better opportunities, to every stakeholder and elder who desires responsible representation — now is the time to stand firm. Whether by consensus or direct primary, let us choose competence over convenience, results over noise, and service over selfish interest,” it said.

The group further stressed the need for a new direction in representation, anchored on energy, focus, and people-oriented leadership.

“Let us send a clear message that Igbo-Eze North/Udenu is ready for focused, energetic, and people-driven representation,” the statement noted.

Reaffirming its call, the youth movement described the moment as critical for political renewal and urged widespread support for Ugwu’s candidacy.

“It is Youth O’clock. It is our moment. Arise and nominate Engr. Chris Ugwu. Joy is not a promise — it is coming,” the statement concluded.
