The Abia State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has elected a new state executive, with Barrister Kalu Kalu Agu emerging as chairman, in a congress held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in Umuahia.
The exercise, conducted through an affirmation process, is part of the party’s broader efforts to reposition itself for the 2027 general elections.
In his acceptance speech, Agu pledged to unite aggrieved members and rebuild the party’s internal cohesion, emphasizing reconciliation as key to future success.
“A house divided against itself cannot stand. We will bring every aggrieved member back to our fold,” he said.
Chairman of the Congress Committee, Fredrick Onwe, described the exercise as transparent and in strict compliance with party guidelines, expressing optimism about the ADC’s prospects in the state.
According to him, the successful conduct of the congress reflects growing stability within the party and sets the stage for stronger political engagement ahead of 2027.
Also speaking, the State Publicity Secretary, Francess Ogbonnaya, said the party had begun strategic preparations to field credible candidates across all elective positions, including the governorship.
Other members of the newly elected State Executive Committee include Obinna Okey as Deputy Chairman; Mrs. Uwaoma Olenwa Ngwa as Secretary; Henry Nduaka as Deputy Secretary; Nwogu Nna Nwogu as Treasurer; Pastor John Ukeh as Deputy Treasurer; Ndubuka Roland Ugochukwu as Financial Secretary; Moses Enyioko as Deputy Financial Secretary; Engr. Solomon Alozie as Organising Secretary; Simon Onyeje as Deputy Organising Secretary; Barr. Osundu Okoroafor as Auditor; Hon. Ugochukwu Nwaeke as State Coordinator for Electoral Matters and INEC Liaison; Chinweikpe Joseph as Deputy Auditor; Barr. Okechukwu Edede as Legal Adviser; Barr. Azubuike Emenike as Deputy Legal Adviser; Frank Udeagha as Deputy Publicity Secretary; and Odilamma Florence Onuoha as Women Leader.
The congress marks a significant step in the ADC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its structure in Abia State and consolidate its readiness for upcoming electoral contests.
