The Warri Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has congratulated High Chief Dr. Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, on the occasion of his 55th birthday, describing him as a symbol of resilience and a key figure in the peace and development of the Niger Delta.

In a statement marking his birth anniversary on Thursday, April 9, 2026, the Chapel said the celebration goes beyond age, highlighting what it called the enduring legacy of a leader whose influence has shaped the region.

“On this significant day, we do not merely celebrate the passage of time, but the enduring legacy of a man whose name has become synonymous with courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the peace, stability, and development of the Niger Delta region,” the statement read.

The NUJ noted that Tompolo’s life reflects “the story of a leader who has consistently risen above challenges, transforming adversity into a platform for progress and empowerment.”

The body commended his contributions to security, economic growth, and community development, describing them as “indelible.”

“As a prominent figure whose influence transcends generations, you have continued to inspire hope, foster unity, and champion the cause of justice for your people,” it added.

The journalists also acknowledged his role in safeguarding critical national assets and promoting peace in the oil-rich region.

“As watchdogs of the society and partners in nation-building, we recognize and commend your strategic roles in promoting peace and safeguarding critical national assets. Your dedication to the stability of the region has not only strengthened national cohesion but also reinforced confidence in the prospects of sustainable development,” the statement said.

The Chapel joined family members, friends, and associates across the world in celebrating the Niger Delta leader, offering prayers for continued strength and good health.

“We pray that the Almighty continues to grant you good health, wisdom, and strength to carry on your invaluable service to humanity. May your years ahead be filled with greater accomplishments, deeper impact, enduring fulfillment and every other good things of life,” it stated.

The statement was jointly signed by the Chairman of the Chapel, Okakuro Akpokona Omafuaire, and the Secretary, Edeki Igafe.
