The government of Enugu State under the governance of the Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi today announced the closure of the road to enable the rehabilitation of the said road.
This decision of the state government was disclosed by the S.A on Media to the Governor Mr. Amoke Louis.
According to him, though the road is a federal road but the state government is intervening due to the danger the continuous usage of the road without any repair poses to commuters.
The closing down of the road according to Mr. Amoke will commence tomorrow, Friday, 8th June, 2018 and is expected to remain closed for Three weeks
Road users are therefore encouraged to use the alternative route which is the Enugu-Onitsha express road.

Enugu Govt closes Miliken Hill section of 9th Mile – Ngwo – Miliken Hill – New Market federal road on Friday
The administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State in furtherance of its quick response measures in tackling the danger posed by the fast dilapidating state of the ageing Miliken Hill section of the 9th Mile – Ngwo – Miliken Hill – New Market federal road, which it reinforced recently with concrete walls, will tomorrow, Friday, June 8, 2018 close the said section of the road for a period of three weeks for the final stage of pavement works and resurfacing.
According to a statement by the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Greg Nnaji, motorists are advised to use the Enugu – Onitsha expressway as alternative route pending the completion of the work.
Engr. Nnaji added that the state government regrets the inconveniences the temporary closure of the road will cause the people of Enugu State and beyond, especially road users, maintaining that the decision was geared towards their wellbeing, safety and security.
