The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared Orji Uzor Kalu, former Governor of Abia State, to contest the party’s senatorial primary to represent Abia North at the National Assembly, ahead of the 2019 general election.
This was confirmed by Yekini Nabena, acting National Publicity Secretary of the party, in a statement on Tuesday evening.
Confirming his clearance to contest for a seat in the Senate, Nabena said:
“The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared the former governor of Abia State, H.E. Dr. Uzor Kalu and Yusuf A. Haruna to contest the Party’s Senate Primaries for Abia North and Kogi Central Senatorial districts respectively.”
Kalu was Abia State Governor for eight years, from 1999 to 2003.
