As the campaigns for Governorship and State Houses of Assembly begins to wind down, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Enugu State is leaving no stone unturned in their resolve to take over governance of the state.
The party yesterday held a leadership meeting of the grassroot leaders of the party which includes the party’s State Working Committee Members of the party, LG Chairmen, all the 260 ward Chairmen, Youth Leaders and Women Leaders of the party in the state.
The meeting passed a vote of confidence on the National Chairman of the party, Comr. Adams Oshiomole and the State Chairman of the party, Barr. Dr. Ben Nwoye.
Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, the state Chairman of the APC, Dr. Ben Nwoye said “the vote of confidence is huge one, is very significant in the sense that this is the first time the leadership of the party from the grassroot, the local governments, the key stakeholders and the state sat together and unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the National chairman of the party and Myself.
“I am humbled by that singular gesture and coming at this time when the mandate of the National Assembly candidates of the party in the state was stolen, I can’t put a price tag on what they have done. The vote of confidence is for the entire state working committee and the same applied to comrade Adams Oshiomole, it’s also for the National Working Committee which he leads” he said.
He commended the National Chairman of the APC for his efforts in leading the party to victory in the last National Assembly and Presidential elections “despite all the propaganda mechinaries that were well oiled, perfectly developed and bathed somewhere in the Arabian hemisphere the comrade Chairman delivered a hunch in Abuja and spread same on the nooks and crannies of our country.
“Comrade Adams Oshiomole not minding all the machinations of the opposition stood by our president and returned him back despite all the prophets of doom, sharing of fake dollar bills and real dollar bills. Irrespective of the macabre dance by the Ohaneze Ndigbo and their ilks, the comrade Chairman led a perfect battle and came out scot-free, we have more people in the National Assembly now under his leadership.
“Now, the agenda as enunciated in our party’s manifesto can be pursued without any obstacles and those who made the mistake of stealing our mandate and made sure all PDP candidates are returned will have themselves to blame because they will have no voice and be nay sayers until such time that our stolen mandates at the National Assembly are returned.”
On the purported exclusion of the party from the governorship race by the INEC, Dr. Nwoye said “the publication is a hatchet job by the leading party in the state, the PDP who are afraid of going for election because they are not ready having failed abysmally to serve the people. If the PDP government had something to show after the last four years they have been in power, they won’t be jubilating over a fake news because that is not the position of the law.
“The question is; is APC not listed on the ballot? The answer is yes, APC is listed on the ballot. I was just called by INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, for Enugu State to come to CBN and examine the materials.
“If APC is not on the ballot, why am I being called? Why am I sending a representative of our Governorship candidate to the CBN? These are just propaganda by the PDP because they have nothing to show. They are going a step further to molest our agents that our party is not part of the election and thus we shouldn’t have agents. These are all antics to depress voters to ensure that voters don’t come out to vote” he concluded
