The just concluded National Assembly elections is not going down well with the candidates of All Progressive Congress, APC, in Enugu State that participated in the election.

News Agency of Nigeria, NAN reports that no fewer than 10 petitions have been received by the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Enugu.

According to NAN report, the tribunal’s secretariat in Enugu revealed that the petitions arising from the outcome of the Feb. 23 National Assembly elections were challenging all the three senatorial zone results and seven out of the eight House of Representatives constituency results in the state.

A further breakdown of the petitions shows that nine of the petitions were filed by candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) while a candidate of African People’s Alliance (APA) filed the remaining one that made up the 10 petitions.

Mrs Juliet Ibekaku-Nwagwu of the APC In her petition is challenging the re-election of Sen. Ike Ekweremadu for Enugu West Senatorial Zone.

A two time speaker of Enugu State house of Assembly, Mr Eugene Odo of the APC is also challenging Sen. Chuka Utazi who was declared winner for Enugu North Senatorial Zone according to the information made available to NAN.

Still at the senatorial level, another APC candidate, Mr Lawrence Eze filed a petition challenging the declaration of former governor of the state, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani of the PDP as winner of Enugu East Senatorial zone.

The Federal House of Representatives seats being challenged are those of Enugu North and South, Ezeagu/Udi, Nsukka/ Igboeze South and Aninri/Awgu/Oji River.

Others are Nkanu East/Nkanu West, Igbo-Etiti/Uzo Uwani, and Udenu/ Igboeze North.

NAN reports that the 21 days required by law for the filing of petitions arising from elections had lapsed.
