Abia COVID-19

Following reports that some residents of Abia State particularly those in Obingwa LGA of the state are being tasked for boreholes, Abia State Government through the Commissioner for information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu has debunked such reports and attributed as “forged” the demand notice issued to Obingwa residents.

Chief Kalu assured that the persons involved in this criminal act has been identified and will soon face the full wrath of the law.

Chief Kalu however, admonished anyone wishing to dig borehole in the state to obtain the necessary permission from the state ministry of water resources as this is very pertinent in ensuring proper environment and avoid the risk associated with unregulated digging of boreholes.

“Meanwhile, it is important to note that those wishing to dig boreholes anywhere in the state must obtain proper permission from Abia State Water Board after payment of inspection and water analysis fees.”
