LAGOS— A prominent cleric group, Igbo Council of Christian Ministers, ICCM, made up of highly rated spiritual men of God, have thrown their weight behind the call by pan-Igbo group, Alaigbo Development Foundation, ADF, to set aside May 30, Igbo National Biafra Remembrance Day.
According to the communiqué arising from the group’s general meeting held in Lagos, jointly signed by Rev. Rowland Nwachukwu, the group’s National Coordinator and its National Publicity Secretary, Apostle Chukwuemeka Eke, the group stated that 30th May is a remarkable day to them and the generation of unborn Igbo children.
“30th May of every year means a whole lot to us and to our unborn generation. This is not a call to fight the government neither are we inciting for protest, irrespective of the harsh economic and insecurity situation in the country today.
“Ndigbo cannot continue to run in a scattered direction and expect to be taken serious in the polity of nations. This is a civil matter, it does not require lobby nor approval to make it a reality since it is an in-house issue.
“We shall liaise with other pan-Igbo groups to make this date a remarkable day. The outline program of events shall be made public after due consultations,” ICCM stated.
