The Apex Igbo Socio-cultural group, Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo has expressed its total disagreement to the call by Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) – the umbrella body of Fulani cattle breeders to allow them have a vigilante group in Igbo land.
Ohaneze Ndi Igbo In reaction to the call by the Fulani group yesterday during South East security summit with South East Governors forum described the forming of a vigilante group by Miyetti Allah as another means of “turning them into an army of occupation” thereby inviting possible problems with Youths of the host communities.
The media aide of of Ohaneze President General, Chief Emeka Attamah said “Ohaneze Ndigbo will resist such policy with every might available to us”
Ohaneze stated that “as at today they (herdsmen) technically enjoy immunity from arrest and prosecution.
“They freely display AK47 riffles not permitted to be used by civilians” stressing that that “extending this measure to them will turn them into an army of occupation and invite unavoidable confrontation with our youth.”
