Students and stakeholders in the society has been reminded of the dangers and consequences of cultism and other vices.

This reminder was made by the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer and the National Cordinator of Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV, SP Ebere Amaraizu on Thursday 4th July, 2019 while addressing students and some stake holders at the professor Iloeje auditorium, Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu on the occassion of “One day seminar on Security, Health, Relationship and Enterpreneurship” organized by the office of the Vice President of the Students Union Government, SUG, of the institution.

According to Amaraizu, “cultism has gradually found its way into our communities leading to artisans involvement and a situation that spells doom for our society and the future of youths.”

Amaraizu stressed that “the inspector General of Police, IGP, Abubakar Adamu Mohammed Npm, mni is committed to ending the menace of cultism and other vices in our various communities through its nationwide and invigorated Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices otherwise known as POCACOV.”

The police spokesperson in Enugu said “this is not a fight but a strategic campaign aimed at countering this dangerous narratives of cultism and other vices thereby making our society and community safe as well as saving our youths from the claws of this dangerous narratives.

The inspector General of police has structured the programme in such a manner that it would be diligently deployed in the various communities in all the states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT” he said.

Amaraizu however warned the students and stakeholders to be security conscious in terms of who becomes their friend and the kind of life they choose to live.

“You have to resist the temptation of joining any cult group and being involved in exam malpractice for whatever reason because it is an ill wind that blows no body any good.

“Dont destroy your future by shunning cultism and other vices and be useful to yourself and to your society” Ebere concluded.

No fewer than three thousand students and stakeholders attended the all important seminar which featured Health Talk and presentations by Dr Sylvester Ogbodo, Dr obiageli Pat Ndu the general manager of Solid 100.9FM Enugu and also Prof. Stanley okereke, Head of Department Biochemistry Abia State University, Uturu who drilled the participants on entrepreneurship.

Highlight of the event was drama presentation by the students’ group on the dangerous effect of cultism and other vices in our schools, communities and the need to eschew them.
