Nigeria’s Super Eagles have booked a place in the Semi-Final in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt by beating their long time rivals, the Bafana Bafana of South Africa 2-1 in the late night game on Wednesday

Prolific winger Samuel Chukwueze who was in an outstanding form opened the scoring for Nigeria 27 minutes into the game.

Nigeria took the one goal advantage into the break but the South Africans pulled an equalizer with 10 minutes to end the game from a superb header by their striker Bongani Zungu.

The match was about progressing into extra time before Nigeria’s defender Willaim Troost-Ekong converted a corner kick from the left flank to give Nigeria victory and ability to progress to the next level of the tournament.

The game ended 2-1 in favour of Nigeria that has won the competition 3 times.

Nigeria will now meet the winner of the match between Ivory Coast and Algeria in the Semi Final match.
