The meeting of the South East Governors Forum which was held in Enugu on the 31st of August at Enugu State Government House has ended with a 14-point resolution.
Top on the resolution of the forum are;
The forum approved a joint air operation in the region to flush out bandits in all the forests in the South East.
The forum resolved that; there will be no more foot movement of cattle and herdsmen from one state to another and from community to another across farmlands.
On the closed situation of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, the Minister of Aviation, Sen. Sirika assured that Enugu airport will be ready by December, 2019 after an overall renovation.
They also gave a marching order to the security agent to arrest any cattle herder seen Ak47 riffle or cutlass.
Speaking on the inglorious python dance in the region in 2017 which led to the death of over 100 South Easterners, the Governors reiterated that; they never invited the army nor requested for Operation Python dance in the region.
The forum also commended the Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for the initiative of establishing forest guards and asked other states to take a cue from Enugu State and replicate the idea in their various states.
The forum also set up security committee, which is headed by Man. Gen. Abel Obi Umahi (Rtd.)
