*As Imo women is set to host their August meeting.

Imo State indigens resident in Lagos State under the auspices of “Imo State Towns Development Assistance” (ISTDAL) the umbrella body of all Autonomous Communities across the state resident in Lagos shall on the 22nd September, 2019, elect new Executive Officers that will pilot the affairs of the union for the next three years.

The Chief Provost of the Association Chief Chima Davis Ukwandu who is also contesting for office of the Public Relations Officer (PRO) in the forthcoming election, said that the term of the present Executive shall come to an end by January 2020.

According to Chief Chima Davis Ukwandu (Ugo Abata N’Obi Ndigbo) “this election is very crucial as the future of Imolites residing in Lagos will be decided.

“We have rotational arrangements, as it is today Okigwe Zone has served it’s 2 terms of 6 years and Owerri Zone is taking over, after which it comes back to Orlu Zone.”

The Association which sits as a parliament is made up of 3 men and 3 women representing each Autonomous Communities across the State, and this makes ISTDAL “a formidable force, providing succour for all Imolites in Lagos” Chief Ukwandu said.

The election is expected to be held at the Imo State Liaison office in Victoria Island Lagos and the crème de la crème of Imo State are expected to witness this all important election.

Chief Chima Davis Ukwandu also called on Imo State government to explore the activities of the Town Unions to ensure speedy development of the state.

In a related development, Imo State women resident in Lagos shall also hold their yearly August meeting/women empowerment for Imo women, on the 7th of September.

The event, which will be held at National Stadium, Lagos, is expected to have in attendance, the wives of the Governors of Imo State, Ondo State and Lagos State.
