It’s is no longer news that the entire country is facing an unprecedented security challenges ranging from terrorism, banditry and kidnapping.
What is however news is, how the Governor has changed the ugly tide and arrested the situation which almost truncated the peace Enugu is synonymous with.
To the crux of the matter. On the 11th of September 2019, the Governor took another remarkable step in matching his words with action on his resolve to make Enugu State more secured than he met it.
Over 300 vehicles has been provided by the government to fast-track the activities of the “forest guards” currently been recruited in the state and so many other security agencies in the state.
There are two things worthy of note by this singular act of the Governor;
• The Governor demonstrated, in practical terms, his determination to providing security in the state.
• Unlike many hypocritical preachers of “buy naija to grow the naira,” he went to the neighboring Anambra state to purchase 100 Hilux vans from our indigenous “Innoson Motors.”
With the vehicles which will be utilized by Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Civil Defense Corps and other security agents for security operations at the community level, in place, there will be no hiding place for the perpetrators of crime in Enugu State.
What is remarkable in what the governor has done is that, he has demonstrated his believe in ‘Made In Nigeria” products. Unlike so many leaders that has mounted so many podium to preach about patronizing our local producers and zoom off to Japan, USA and India when it’s time to march their words with action.
This action of the Governor is not only worthy of commendation but should be emulated by other state governments. Particularly, those from the south east region of the country.
Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi true to his character, doesn’t need to make noise (same way he doesn’t speak about his salient achievements in Enugu) to do the right thing.
