The state elections petition tribunal sitting in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State on Friday, 20th September, 2019 dismissed the petition of Dr. Alex Otti of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA against the Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Alex had approached the tribunal challenging the outcome of the March 9th election on the grounds of irregularities, non compliance to electoral guidelines, non usage of Card readers.
The tribunal in its ruling said that, the law as at today, recognises Registers thus, card readers can’t take over the role of register.
The tribunal also ruled that all the documents tendered by the Petitioners were literally dumped on the Tribunal without further actions on them and TYE petitioners failed to prove non-compliance polling unit by polling unit.
The three-man panel went ahead to dismiss Otti’s petition due to his to prove his case.
