Barr. Clement Edeavia, the immediate past President General, NIUN had earlier stated that, following the expiration of the first tenure of the former executives, an election was expected to be held by the delegates to either renew their mandate for a second tenure or elect new officers.
However, since night was fast approaching and the constitutionally stipulated processes of accreditation of branches and election was no longer practicable, members present unanimously resolved to set up an interim executive committee to avoid an impasse as the tenure of the former national executive committee elapsed exactly a year earlier on 1st October, 2018.
In his acceptance after the inauguration, Chief Chukwu thanked Ndị Nenwe for the confidence reposed in him
“While thanking Ndị Nenwe for finding me worthy to be your servant, I solicit for the support of all and sundry to enable us move NIU forward”
