The Senator representing Abia South and the Minority leader of the Senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe has called on the South East governors to mobilize funds, fix the airport and demand for a refund from the federal government.

The leader of the South East caucus at the National Assembly made this call in an interview with an online television, ‘Root Tv’.

The Senator who used the Kaduna airport as an example, called on the governors of the South East states to mobilize funds.

“When the Kaduna airport at one time was undergoing repairs, they also ran into this question of funding and the state government provided the funds and later got refunds. So there’s nothing that stops our Governors in the south east (since we regard Enugu as our regional capital) to work together, then find the funds then they can get a refund later.”

Recall that it’s now forty-eight days after the Enugu airport; the only international airport in the entire southeast region of Nigeria was shut down and work is yet to commence. Meanwhile, it took the Federal Government less than 43 days to fix the Abuja airport.
