ENUGU— As part of strategies to further drive the campaign against cultism and other related crimes down the consciousness of people, the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), an initiative of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, has announced plan to carry out its first one million man march in Enugu.

This was disclosed on Saturday, in a statement issued by the national coordinator of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) initiative, SP Ebere Amaraizu.

According to Amaraizu, POCACOV being the initiative of IGP Adamu, “aimed at saving the Nigerian youth from the claws of cultism and other vices, making our environment safe and secured in line with the tenets of community-oriented policing, has concluded modalities for its first ever one million man march in Enugu aimed at further deepening the campaign in the minds of the members of the public.”

He added that the one million man march in the coal city comes up December 7, 2019, beginning from Michael Okpara Square axis from 7am, connecting designated routes and terminating at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

“The one million man march Enugu Arise against cultism and other vices and with the theme ‘Be A Champion, Say No To Cultism and Other Vices’ is part of POCACOV campaign strategies aimed at deepening the deployment to states,” he noted.

Amaraizu further hinted that relevant stakeholders will be part of the epoch making event.

“We are partnering with the media, corporate organizations, student union bodies, town union leaders, faith-based organizations, post primary school management board, ministry of youth and sports, labour and trade union bodies, Artisans, women and market unions, sister security agencies, men of the new media, national union of road transport workers, neighborhood watch groups amongst others and from where our participants are drawn.

“It is going to be massive and all inclusive and ofcourse with the able support of the Nigeria Policing Programme (NPP).

“The event will also be supported by POCACOV ambassadors featuring Nkem Owoh alias Osuofiason, Patience Ozokwor alias Mama G, Mc Franchez, Didi Nnamen, Mc 4 God also known as Abedinego, Professor Johnbull amongst others.

“The event further goes to show that POCACOV is all about you. Let’s join hands to say no to cultism and other vices in our society for a safe and secured environment,” he concluded.
