The Nigerian Army Headquarters Monitoring Team has lauded successes recorded in ongoing “Exercise Atilogwu Udo 1’’ in the Area of Responsibility (AOR) of the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army.

“Exercise Atilogwu Udo 1’’ is a Nigerian Army operation against armed
bandits, proscribed secessionist groups, armed militia, kidnappers and cattle rustlers among other criminality elements in the South East states this yuletide.

Col. Aliyu Yusuf, Deputy Director Army Public Relations 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, said this in a statement on Thursday in Enugu.

Yusuf noted that the Army Headquarters Monitoring Team led by the Core Commander Armoured Corps, Maj.- Gen. Joseph Akomolafe, visited the exercise area of 82 Division’s “Exercise ATILOGWU UDO l’’ Step up Headquarters and its Super Camps.

He said that Maj.-Gen. Akomolafe, who was in company of Commandant Nigerian Army Armoured School, Maj.-Gen. M.H. Magaji and Commandant Nigerian Army Signal School, Maj.-Gen. A.O. Uthman, toured the exercise area between Nov.18 and Nov. 20.

The army spokesman said that the team members were conducted round the
step up Headquarters and Super Camps facilities by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 82 Division, Maj.-Gen. Lasisi Adegboye.

He said that the team visited the step up Headquarters for Sector 3 Super Camp at Mburuchi Obinze community near Owerri in Imo State and were received and briefed at the information Center/Operations room by the Information and Operations officers.

Yusuf said that the team also visited Sector 5 Super Camp in Egede Junction, off Enugu-Nsukka Road in Enugu State and were received and briefed at the information Center/Operations room by the Information and Operations officers.

He said that the team also visited Sector 2 Super Camp at Nsulu Games Village, Umuahia, Abia State and were briefed at the Information Centre/Operations Centre on the operational activities of the sector

In a remark, the team leader, Maj.-Gen. Akomolafe, expressed satisfaction for the achievements recorded to date by the various Sectors within the AOR of “Exercise Atilogwu Udo 1’’ since the commencement of the Exercise.

“We are quite impressed and satisfied with the level of commitment and successes recorded so far in this Exercise.

“The Nigerian Army Headquarters wants the various commanders to sustain the tempo of the operations throughout the Exercise period.

“We also commend the inter-agency cooperation and support displayed
by various security agencies within the Division, which is part of the objective of the Exercise,’’ he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that “Exercise Atilogwu Udo 1’’, which means; Dance of Peace, is meant to be used to carry out community services within the Division’s Area of Responsibility (AOR).

These services included: sanitation, medical outreaches, clearing of drains, road construction, educational support and other social works.

The Exercise is being carried out in Cross River State as well as the five South East states, which comprises of Abia, Anmabra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States.

  1. What is the operational status of Sanbista Forest with regard to Boko HARAM? Is the deployment of manpower appropriate?

    This is intimidation but it has the value to waken the people to their unfortunate state. No justice; no peace.
