There was pandemonium in Ibagwa Aka, a community in Igbo Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu state as one Mr. Simon Ugwuabor, a secondary school principal was reportedly murdered in his house over an alleged love affair with a married woman.

It was gathered that the married woman who already have six children for her husband was lured out of her matrimonial home by Mr. Simon of which both were wedded in court after the woman’s family refused them to wed traditionally.

Trouble was said to have started when one of the woman’s sons from her first marriage asked his mother to return home to their father (one Onyedika Enugwu), a request the deceased vehemently opposed, warning the boy never to step his feet into his compound again.

An eye witness who is a neighbor to the deceased said the late principal had on several occasions, tried to buy the boy over with money of which each attempt was futile.

The witness also revealed that the woman’s son had attempted to attack the late principal on one occasion of which he was over powered by a group of vigilante.

Out of rage, the young man went back home, got a pestle and found his way into the principal’s compound and hit him with the hard object.

Late Ugwuabor was said to have struggled out of his house and found his way into a nearby catholic church only to be attacked again by his attacker with the weapon, hitting him constantly on the head, eventually murdering him.

Members of Catholic Women Organization, CWO, who were holding a meeting in the church premises took to their heels on seeing the late principal in a pool of his own blood.

The suspect refused to leave the scene until some police officers who were alerted arrived the scene of the murder, arrested him and evacuated the corpse.

Confirming the incident, the Enugu State police command spokesperson, SP Ebere Amarizu said Investigation is ongoing as the suspect is already in their custody.
