The entire five states that made up the south east geopolitical zone of the country has been thrown into darkness as a result of what the distribution company that covers the zone EEDC called; “General system collapse”.

According to the Emeka Ezeh, the Disco’s head of communications, the blackout occurred at 14:15hrs on Wednesday, 11th December, 2019.

Mr. Ezeh in a terse statement said they await signal from National Control Centre for the restoration of power supply.

His words;

“The Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform her esteemed customers in the South East that the loss of supply currently being experienced is as a result of a general system collapse which occurred at 14:15hrs of today, 11th, Dec., 2019.

“Consequently, all our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States are out of electricity supply.

“We are on standby and awaiting signal from the National Control Centre (NCC) for restoration of supply.”
