President Buhari has approved the sum of N37Billion for the renovation of the National Assembly as proposed by the 9th Senate.

According to the senate President, Ahmad Lawan, the amount is part of the 2020 budget of the Federal Capital Development Administration.

Lawan who said that the assembly complex haven’t had any major renovation for the last 20years, said some parts of the building is now dilapidated.

He said “We met the president and (it was) related the condition of the complex,” he said.

“The president responded and said he was going to renovate the complex. The phase one renovation will commence – the chambers and committee rooms in the white house.

“N37 billion was sourced and was given. It was put under the FCT, not national Assembly. All we required is to have the complex renovated.

According to Sahara Reporters, Dr. Rawlings Agada, National Assembly Director of Information, hinted that the money might not be enough for the required renovation.

He said, “The National Assembly needs a lot of work.

“I don’t think even that amount of money can take care of all those things because even the dome has been leaking and there is fear that if the repairs are not done, we might suffer greater problem in future.”.
