Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), the initiative of the Inspector General of police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar ADAMU aimed at saving the youth from claws of cultism and other vices was introduced to the Chinese officers to tap in and harness ideas that can also help them in line with the practice of community oriented policing which POCACOV is adopting.
This was successful done by the National Coordinator of POCACOV, SP Ebere Amaraizu while making a PowerPoint presentation of POCACOV in one of the training programme on Monday, 16th December, 2019 at Guangdong provincial public security department of People’s Republic of China tagged; “Law Enforcement Forum on Anti Terrorism Cooperation Between China and Nigeria”.
According to the national coordinator of POCACOV who is also the liason officer of the Nigeria police delegation in the ongoing 2019 seminar on anti terrorism capacity building for Nigerian officers organized by Guangdong provincial public security department in partnership with the Nigeria police force and with sponsorship from the ministry of public security of the people’s republic of China.
IGP Mohammed Abubakar ADAMU was on time with the initiative to counter the narratives through strategic campaign and tactics and involving different stakeholders to raise awareness and consciousness, galvanize stake holders support to reduce the menace and incidences.
He also gave the overview of POCACOV which contains origin, scope covered, strategies and tactics, stakeholders, the need for POCACOV, what has been done and ongoing and evaluation mechanism amongst others.
The Nigeria delegation was led by the CSP, Usman Musa Shugaba who had applauded the efforts of the inspector general of police IGP Mohammed Abubakar ADAMU in crime prevention and control through various strategies and tactics in line with the standard of international best practices.
There were presentations by DSP Mary Jauro and Kingsley Ibe Nwachukwu and other Nigeria police force delegates on the activities of the force through police mobile force unit, counter terrorism unit, K9 session and special forces amongst others.
Later, the delegates were exposed to Chinese public security history and activities so far in crime prevention and detection as well as command control Centre of Guangdong provincial public security department.
