The member representing Ezeagu Constituency in Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chima Obieze on Sunday 22nd of December, 2019 hosted over 200 widows drawn from the 20 electoral wards in Ezeagu LGA.
The event which is an annual ritual by the lawmaker which predates his delving into politics saw the widows going home with bags of rice and meat.
At the event, Hon. Obieze said celebrating the yuletide with the widows started even before he became a public office holder and it’s something he finds joy in doing.
“What we are doing today is what we started over six years ago long before I became a public servant.
“We started this with the widows in my community (Akama) and we expanded it to accommodate other widows from across the local government.
“To us, this is one of the best ways we can celebrate the faithfulness of God and we don’t intend to stop anytime soon,” he concluded.
This year’s event was also expanded to accommodate okada riders, and some traditional rulers in the area.
Other political office holders that witnessed the event are; the Commissioner for Budget and planning, Dr. David Okelue Ugwunta, the SSA to the governor on Arts and Culture, Ndidi Obi, the Administrator of Ezeagu North administrative council, Okwudiri Onuoha other friends and well-wishers of Hon. Obieze.
