Fidelity Advert
Prof. Wole Soyinka

Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, has thrown his weight behind the regional security outfit in the south-west, “Amotekun”, saying it has come to stay.

Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation, had described the outfit as illegal, saying security remains the exclusive preserve of the federal government.

But at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday, Soyinka said: “Those who said Amotekun is illegal should go back to sleep. Amotekun has come to stay.

“I even think we should start moving from Amotekun to Awosikun. Let’s deal with the issue of hunger” he said.
