The chairman of the Nigeria National League (NNL) chief Ofo Chidi Okenwa has commended the Inspector General of police, IGP, Mohammed Abubakar ADAMU on the ongoing nationwide Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) which is his initiative aimed at saving Nigerian youths from the claws of cultism and other vices through advocacy
Mr Okenwa made the commendation recently at a gathering of football family members comprising of Enugu state football Associationz Nigeria football referee members and veteran footballers at the mainbowl of Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium in felicitation with the promotion of the National coordinator POCACOV CSP Ebere Amaraizu, shortly after a football match played in his honour which was organized by the Nigeria football referee council Enugu.
According to Hon Ofo Chidi okenwa who is the chairman of the Enugu state football association and also executive committee member with Nigeria Football Federation (NFF); “We commend the inspector General of police IGP Mohammed Abubakar ADAMU for this laudable initiative which is a departure from the use of force.
“We (NNL) commend him for the appointment of our own board member and director of the Nigeria Nationwide League as the National coordinator of POCACOV and his elevation to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police.
“We at the Nigeria National League, the second tier league of the Nigeria football will continue to partner with POCACOV to ensure that the message is passed throughout the country.
“We are covering the entire country just like POCACOV and we are going to leverage on this to pass the message to the youths because, Nigeria National League deals with the youth and that was why during the NNL super 4 tournament in Enugu last year, we partnered with POCACOV.
“There’s no gain saying in stating that, we have seen the benefit of POCACOV which is community driven and we commend the IGP on this laudable initiative,” he concluded.
It could be recalled that Police Campaign Against Xultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) is the initiative of the inspector general of police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar ADAMU aimed at saving our youth from claws of cultism and other vices, involving different stake holders and galvanizing their support to reduce the incidences and menace of cultism in line with the tenets of the community oriented policing.
